What to do if You Can't Import Mbox into Outlook 2011

I recently purchased the whole suit of Office Microsoft, along with I also got Outlook 2011. Now I have used Apple Mail for a long time, but some reason I started finding it limited. So I decided to switch to Apple Mail. The only problem was my emails stored inside Apple Mail database. And I didn't have a clue what to do of them, and how to transfer them to Outlook 2011.

I found a relief when I noticed that Outlook 2011 can import Mbox files directly. So all I had to do was export the data from Apple Mail to Mbox. But the relief was short lived. When I actually started importing Mbox files into Outlook 2011, a whole can of “bugs” opened up. There were so many complications that nothing made sense to me. The option to import mbox files was grayed (disabled) for some reason. Even after I did some tweaks to enable it, there were other problems robbing me of my peace. I was frustrated to say the least.

Thankfully, before going complete nuts, I found the solution that was easy, works, and very effective. It is called “Mail Extractor Max”.

It doesn't let you import Mbox files to Outlook 2011. But what it does is let you convert Mbox files to Olm files. And Olm file is a format that Outlook 2011 uses for storing data. So instead of trying to import mbox file that is not fully supported by outlook 2011, you can import Olm after conversion, which is much simpler and more accurate, since Olm is the identity file for Outlook 2011.

Moreover, there is no need of Mbox file at all. How come? Because this tool will convert the emails directly from your Apple mail database without you having to export everything to mbox files. You just need to have Apple mail installed. It will target the “Mail” folder directly and convert everything into Olm.

In case you don't have Apple mail installed, you can always use the manual conversion through Mbox files. The tool supports both options.

I was surprised by how everything was so simple, quick, and precise with this tool. After struggling a lot trying to import Mbox into Outlook 2011, I never would have guessed that something this simple could also exist.

Good news for you is that it does. And you don't have to go through that same path of disappointment, because I went there, and it has nothing but the pain.

So without wasting much time I recommend you to download the free trial version of “Mail Extractor Max” here. It is much better to give it a try personally instead of reading its features. If you don't think it works, you can always choose another solutions. There is no risk with the free trial version.

The only limitation is that this trial version can only convert 10 items from each folder of Apple Mail to Olm.
